Homemade Face-Packs & Remedies

  • Take a teaspoon of limejuice and stir in half a teaspoon of honey and a few drops of milk. Mix well and apply over your face and neck 15 minutes before you take your bath. This lotion will have a mild bleaching effect on a greasy skin. If you have oily skin, apply a paste of gram flour and lemon juice on your face and wash it off after 20 minutes.

  • Tomato is a new discovery that is supposed to be excellent for face and skin care. New products are in the market with tomato derived active ingredients. Old fashioned mudpacks and their commercial versions are tried as face care enhancements.

  • Take a teaspoonful of turmeric powder mixed with cream, sandal powder, and Bengal gram flour, make a paste and apply it once a day for about half an hour before bath. This is an excellent beauty aid to keep face fresh and soft.

  • By rubbing a coat of lemon over your face, this will lessen the grease and whiten your complexion.

  • (For Acne): At night, mix a packet of fast-acting yeast with enough tea tree oil to make a paste. Tea tree oil comes from Australia and is antiseptic, analgesic, and is anti-inflammatory. Spread over the emerging pimple, and cover it with a bandage. Leave on overnight. Yeast causes the pimple to rise out of skin, while tree oil attacks it.

  • Soak a cotton ball in warm salt water. Press on top of blemish for three minutes to dissolve the top. Remove blackheads gently so you don`t scar your skin.

  • Combine 1/4 cup boiling water with one teaspoon of Epsom salt and three drops of iodine. Let the mixture cool until it`s comfortable to the touch. Saturate a cotton ball with mixture and dab on blackheads. This will allow them to loosen so they can be easily squeezed with a gauze pad. When the blemish is gone, dab a bit of honey on the affected area to deep-clean the pore and draw out bacteria. Let sit for ten minutes, then rinse with warm water.

  • (For Dry skin): Warm 1/4-cup olive oil in microwave. Make sure it`s comfortable to the touch and massage into skin. Wipe off with a cotton towel.

  • (For Freckles): Keep them from getting worse and prevent new ones by using sunscreen wherever your skin is exposed. To fade existing freckles, apply a mixture of boric acid powder, mixed with lemon. Massage into freckled area, then rinse. Follow up with an application of hydroquinone. For very sensitive skin, don`t use a lemon and mix the boric acid powder with warm water instead.

  • (For Wrinkles): Take a vitamin C tablet and dissolve it in 1/2 teaspoon boiling water. Vitamin C is the only topical antioxidant that has been proven to prevent oxidation of tissue. Let the water cool until comfortable to the touch. Add it to a small amount of eye cream, and gently apply it under the eye and around the mouth. Never use a facial moisturizer on the eye area if you have sensitive skin.
